Is Your Organization Limited by “Good Enough”?

co-blog-2

First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving from the team at Creative Oklahoma.   Now here’s a question for you.  Have you had the same Thanksgiving routine for a number of years?

Just like families, well-established companies struggle with innovation every day.  It is so easy to get in a rut especially when things are running well.  The team gets comfortable and enjoys their predictable schedule.  Years go by with minimal change.  Sally, the new intern questions a process or procedure and is quickly met by the most senior people who expertly answer, “Well, it’s always been done that way and it works.”  You know exactly what I mean.  We have all seen this and frankly, this statement, mindset, thought process can be the beginning of the end for your company.  Your company is now satisfied with “good enough”…congratulations you are now the status quo.

After 30 years of business and an infection of the “good enough” mindset, what can you do to ensure your company gets back on track and starts leading instead of lagging the competition?  It’s simple, change the mindset.  While this is easy to say, it’s a little more difficult to accomplish.  Innovation and change management all fall within the same curve: 10% of the team will do whatever it takes to innovate and change, 10% of the team are going to fight tooth and nail to make sure nothing changes and 80% of the team will take a wait and see approach.  To be successful you have to keenly focus on the 10% who will do whatever it takes not to change.  These people are antibodies. They will destroy most attempts to change the status quo and innovate within the organization.

Most companies do not have nor can they afford permanent employees to manage significant culture changes.  In the next couple of months, Creative Oklahoma will be launching our Business Intelligence Unit.  They are experts in the Creative Problem Solving process, communications and team building.  They serve as a Quick Reaction Force for stagnant companies.  Our team is highly skilled at working with antibodies within organizations and creating an innovative culture in companies.

As I often tell many folks we work with…Creative Oklahoma understands innovation and the impact on culture.  More importantly, we want to see you be hugely successful.

Happy Thanksgiving, I Dare You to Innovate and Be Creative
