Creative Oklahoma is launching a new season! We are incredibly proud to celebrate by presenting a private sneak peak into what's going on in the booming film industry in Oklahoma featuring some of the star players  - Prairie Surf Media principles Christian Kanady, Rachel Cannon and Matt Payne, along with Oscar and Emmy winning producer Gray Frederickson and award-winning filmmaker Lance McDaniel

At the November 1 event, you will be treated to petite culinary fare and wine inside the Prairie Surf studios while attendees mingle and visit before the program begins.  Once seated, we will get to hear from our star players about what's happening in film and TV production in Oklahoma and what the future possibilities look like.

Rachel Cannon

Rachel Cannon is an entertainment executive, entrepreneur, mentor, accomplished television actress, writer and producer. With an acting career in Los Angeles that spans 20 years with over 80 network television credits, Cannon has been featured on iconic television series like “Big Bang Theory,” “Two and a Half Men,” “Mad Men,” and for the last 6 years she played Deidre on ABC’s hit comedy, “Fresh Off The Boat.” Combining her on-set experience with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Cannon is determined to bring more creative opportunities for film and television to her home State. She believes this industry will create sustainable jobs, economic diversity and a creative path for the next generation.

Matt Payne

Matt Payne is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker, writer, photographer and
educator based in Oklahoma City. In his 15 years based in Los Angeles, Payne
worked as a writer on CBS’s “Vegas,” “Without a Trace” and “The Defenders.” In
2015, Payne moved back to Oklahoma City and since then, has taken a key
role in the Oklahoma film community producing documentaries for Griffin
Communications and the OETA Foundation as well as teaching film business
and screenwriting at Oklahoma City University among other things.

Gray Frederickson

Oscar and Emmy winning film producer with blockbuster movies such as The Godfather II and Apocalypse Now among his nearly 50 movies that span his incredible career.

Christian Kanady

Successful multi-disciplinary entrepreneur and investor deploying more than $1.2B in capital, which includes his role as lead investor in major initiatives such as Prairie Surf.

Lance McDaniel

Lance McDaniel is an Emmy nominated filmmaker who has worked on 22 feature films, including Oscar winner Million Dollar Baby. Lance has directed and produced five narrative features, two documentaries, four shorts, and a Virtual Reality film.

Lance spent a decade as Executive Director of the deadCenter Film Festival, an Oklahoma City based nonprofit that was selected as Oklahoma’s Outstanding Arts & Cultural Nonprofit in 2018.
